What's This Charge?

WISE — what is this charge?

Wallet / easy pay
This is most likely money you moved into or through your own Wise account.
Wise (renamed from TransferWise in 2021) is a money-transfer and multi-currency account service. A 'WISE' charge on your bank card is most likely a top-up you made to your Wise balance or an international transfer you funded by card — it may also appear under the old 'TRANSFERWISE' name. Purchases made WITH a Wise card show the merchant's name instead, so an unrecognized subscription on your Wise card is a separate merchant's charge.

How to confirm it

  1. Open the Wise app and check your activity/transaction list for a matching top-up or transfer on that date
  2. Remember card-funded transfers: sending money abroad with a card shows as a Wise charge on your bank statement
  3. For an unrecognized charge made with your Wise card, identify the merchant in the activity list and contact them
  4. If you find a Wise card transaction you never made, use Wise's dispute process and freeze the card in the app
