How to cancel Apple (App Store / iTunes / subscriptions) (and get a refund)

Almost every 'APPLE.COM/BILL' charge is cancelled in one place: your Apple Subscriptions screen. The app itself can't cancel it.

Where the cancel button actually is

  1. On iPhone/iPad: Settings > tap your name > Subscriptions
  2. Tap the subscription you want to stop, then tap 'Cancel Subscription' (you may need to scroll down)
  3. On a Mac: App Store > your name > Account Settings > Manage next to Subscriptions
  4. No Apple device? Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com and manage subscriptions there

⚠️ The app-store trap

This IS the app-store layer: if a service (Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, etc.) was subscribed through your iPhone, its cancel button lives here in Apple's Subscriptions — not on that service's own website. Deleting the app never cancels the subscription.

Can you get a refund?

Apple refunds are requested at reportaproblem.apple.com within a limited window; Apple reviews each request and there's no guarantee. Accidental and duplicate charges are the most likely to be approved.

Easy-to-miss gotchas

  • Deleting an app does NOT cancel its subscription
  • A Family Sharing member's (often a kid's) purchase can bill your card — check their purchases too
