Where the cancel button actually is

  1. Sign in at account.microsoft.com/services with the account that bought the subscription
  2. Find the subscription and select 'Manage' > 'Cancel' (or 'Turn off recurring billing')
  3. Confirm — you keep access until the end of the paid period

⚠️ The app-store trap

If you bought Game Pass or a Microsoft subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel it in that store instead.

Can you get a refund?

Microsoft's refund eligibility depends on the product and how recently you were charged; recurring subscriptions are often refundable only within a short window. Request via your Microsoft account order history / support.

Easy-to-miss gotchas

  • Make sure you're signed into the exact Microsoft account that was charged — people often have more than one
  • Xbox and Microsoft 365 can be under different accounts in the same household
