How to cancel Netflix (and get a refund)

Cancelling Netflix takes about 30 seconds on the web — signing out or deleting the app does NOT stop the billing.

Where the cancel button actually is

  1. Go to netflix.com/cancelplan (or netflix.com/account > Manage your membership)
  2. Sign in if asked, then click 'Cancel Membership'
  3. Click 'Finish Cancellation' to confirm — you'll get a confirmation email
  4. Your account stays active until the end of the current billing cycle, then stops

⚠️ The app-store trap

If you don't see a cancel option on your Netflix account, you signed up through Apple, Google, or a mobile/TV provider — cancel it there instead. Billed through Apple? Cancel in iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions.

Can you get a refund?

Netflix generally does not give partial refunds for the unused part of a month; you simply keep access until the period ends. If you were charged after cancelling, check the official 'charged after canceling' article.

Easy-to-miss gotchas

  • Deleting the Netflix app or signing out does not cancel — you must use Cancel Membership
  • Extra-member slots are cancelled the same way, from the account page
