How to cancel Nintendo (eShop / Switch Online) (and get a refund)

A recurring Nintendo charge is usually Switch Online auto-renewing — turn off automatic renewal to stop it.

Where the cancel button actually is

  1. On the Switch: eShop > Account Information, or sign in at accounts.nintendo.com
  2. Open your Nintendo Switch Online membership and turn OFF automatic renewal
  3. Do this at least 48 hours before it expires so you're not renewed

Can you get a refund?

Nintendo generally does not refund or credit the remaining time on a Switch Online membership; some regions have a statutory 14-day cancellation right. Accidental game/DLC purchases have very limited refund eligibility — use Nintendo's refund request page.

Easy-to-miss gotchas

  • A child's account under Family can bill the organizer's card
  • Turn off auto-renewal early — Nintendo won't refund the remaining membership time
